This advanced course module presents a comprehensive lecture on the legal, necessary, proportional, and ethical use of force—core principles that guide responsible decision-making in the security profession. One of the most challenging responsibilities for any Law Enforcement Officer is determining not only the appropriate level of force to use, but whether that force is lawful and morally justified. This presentation addresses these critical concerns, offering participants a clearer understanding of the legal frameworks and ethical standards that govern the use of force in the field.
Following the lecture, officers will engage in a series of dynamic “Box Drills” designed to evaluate and enhance individual decision-making skills under pressure. These exercises simulate high-stress scenarios, encouraging rapid assessment, appropriate response, and accountability.
Additionally, the course covers the fundamentals of weapon manipulation—a vital skill that empowers security personnel to confidently draw, control, and, if necessary, accurately discharge their weapon in crowded or chaotic environments. Emphasis is placed on achieving automaticity, the development of instinctive, conditioned responses that enable officers to act decisively without hesitation.
Key topics such as situational awareness, tactical decision-making, scanning sequences, and optimal positioning (stance and distance) during subject encounters will be reinforced throughout the training to build confidence, competence, and operational readiness.
